Dr. Brian Meyer
Senior Lecturer at Georgia State University;
Former Geology Student of Dr. Bishop
Brian Meyer is a former GSU Geology student who worked under Richard M. Petkewich and Gale Bishop on the GSU Mosasaur that was collected in South Dakota, rebuilding its smashed skull, repairing shattered bones, making replicas of missing bones, and finally assisting in mounting the 26-foot skeleton. Brian accompanied Dr. Bishop on several class field trips to study the Paleontology of the Black Hills. During one of these trips, he worked as a field assistant to Gale as part of a National Geographic Expedition to collect Linuparid lobsters from the Black Hills. Later, he became a much beloved colleague, parlaying the practices and skills he'd learned in the Black Hills to study geoarchaeology on St. Catherines Island, Georgia. In addition to his extensive research, he is a Senior Lecturer at Georgia State University.
